| Shanghai Municipal
Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision is run by
the Shanghai Municipal Government, which is legally in
charge of standardization, metrology, quality and special
equipment safety supervision. The bureau has some affiliates
such as the Shanghai Industry Manufacturing License Office,
Shanghai Metrology and Calibration Administration Office
and Shanghai Famous Brand Recommendation Committee.
Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical
Supervision was formerly called the Bureau of Shanghai
Standardization and Metrology. In 1989, the Bureau of
Shanghai Technique Supervision was founded on the basis
of the Bureau of Shanghai Standardization and Metrology
and the Quality Division Shanghai Economic Committee.
In October 1999, it was formally called The Shanghai
Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technique Supervision.
The affiliates of bureau include: Shanghai Institute
of Measurement and Testing Technique, Shanghai Institute
of Special Equipment Supervision and Inspection, Shanghai
Institute of Standardization, Shanghai Institute of
Supervision and Testing on Product Quality, Shanghai
Institute of Fabric Inspection, the Brigade of Shanghai
Quality and Technical Supervision, the Center of Shanghai
Quality and Technique Supervision, Shanghai Institute
of Testing Technique, Shanghai Motor Vehicle Inspection
Center and sub bureaus in 19 districts and countries.
