Shanghai Motor Vehicle Inspection Center is the national third part position institution for comprehensive motor vehicle inspection, which is founded on the basis of the integration of the existing resource of motor vehicle inspection. Shanghai Motor Vehicle Inspection Center is located in Shanghai Anting International Automobile Center with the investment of 720million RMB and the planned area of 120,000 square meters. The center is an authoritative lab boasting the most advanced equipment and technology, a world-class automobile passive safety lab, motor vehicle emission and motor vehicle safety component lab with certification of inspection lab and the authorization of environmental protection institution. The center is able to carry on the inspection and determination of the entire system, lighting and other component of automobile, motorcycle, tractor, including physical, chemical and environmental test and determination for different types of components and materials as well as defect inspection and failure analysis for metal components. The center can provide the service of calibration and determination of metrological instruments in automobiles as well as the consultation of enterprise quality control. In the history of its development, the center has cultivated an experienced and competent team for quality verification and products inspection. The center boasts the well-known industrial experts in the fields of automobile, motorcycle, lighting, material analysis, metrological calibration and determination technical research as well as the assessors with national qualification.

The affiliates, Shanghai Motorcycle Institute, Shanghai Automobile Lighting Institute, are the organizations for drafting and development of national standards with industrial authorative positions.
